Hijab Or Abaya trends
Abaya or hijab is a dress gown that covers the body of a Muslim woman from head to feet. This trend grew in Pakistan in the late 80’s and became popular in 90’s. Many Muslim countries including KSA, Dubai, Egypt, and Pakistan have the trend of a gown called Abaya used to cover the body of a woman. As it is a religious obligation to cover the body so women have to fulfill this duty. Some women also cover their faces with a scarf or veil so that no one can see them but mostly only the head hair are covered. It also depends on the area and family traditions. Every woman has a desire of following fashion in some way either its dress, shoes bags or makeup. But those women who wear abayas can hardly follow the latest trends. Fashion designers have brought relief and happiness to those girls who want to follow fashion while following the Islamic rules by introducing different designs in the Abayas. Almost 70% of the girls in Pakistan wear Abaya and the ratio is still growing.
Designers have done a great deal of effort to bring new trends in the market. New colors other than black are introduced to give them a more glamorous look. Abaya is usually made of light, thin flowing fabrics such as chiffon, georgette or silk which gives them a flowing look. Embroidered gowns are also in these days with combination of different colors. The borders of the fabric are embroidered heavily to give them an attractive look. Stone work and net lining is also used in the abayas which gives them a trendy look other than that machine embroidery is also used on abayas. Very common color combinations in abayas are grey, pink, purple, brown & magenta.
Most of the fashion work on abayas is done in Dubai. Designers not only bring new designs but special shows are arranged for the display of new trends which shows that Abaya fashion is a huge platform. Among many designs net gowns with silk lining and embroidered kaftan abayas are among the top list. Abaya is not just restricted to the eastern countries but the trend has its flow in the west as well. Many Muslim families wear abaya in the public or even at some functions and annual dinners. In the western countries abayas with net laces and buttons are very common. Different and attractive designs not only help them in keeping a pace with the outer world but also give them a modern look. Not just that, it also shows that Muslim women can follow the fashion trends as well as they follow the religious obligations.
